About the Author
Prof. B Kumar received his BA (Hons. ) degree from DAV College, Jalandhar (Punjab University), topping in BA Pass Course as well as in Mathematics Honours, in 1959. He obtained his BSc Engg. (Hons. ) degree in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in 1963. He obtained M Tech. (Distinction) topping in IIT, Delhi in 1972. Prof. Kumar completed his PhD also from IIT, Delhi under the guidance of Prof. S C Dutta Roy.
In May, 1988, Dr. Kumar joined Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (formerly, DIT) in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and became Professor in May, 1990. from 1993 to 1996, he was the Dean, undergraduate studies, as well as the Head of the ECE Department. He was the Director, NSIT during 1996–1997 the founder Director of Guru Premsukh Memorial College of Engineering (2000 to 2002) and also the Director, HMR Institute of Technology and Management (2005 to 2006). He served Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2006 to 2009). He was with Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology from March, 2009 to December, 2011, as the Head of the ECE Department.
His areas of interest are Microelectronics, Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing and Communication Engineering. Prof. Kumar has published over seventy-seven technical papers in national and international journals of repute. He has won several awards and has a Patent to his credit. He is the author of the book Signals and Systems published by New Age International Publishers in 2015 (Second Edition). He has also contributed a chapter in the Handbook of Signal Processing and its Applications, published in USA in 1993. Four students have already been awarded PhD degrees under his guidance and another two are pursuing PhD under him.
