Descriptions

This completely revised second edition of Understanding Organizational Behaviour is a comprehensive textbook written specifically for management students. It explores the core concepts and theories of organizational behaviour (OB) through managerial applications.

The book contains well-illustrated chapters on globalization and the changing profiles of employees and customers, as well as the processes of decision making, consensus building, and developing attitudes and values. It provides in depth coverage of issues and challenges faced by organizations in the areas of emotional intelligence, the process approach to OB, the role of personality and leadership styles, and the roles and functions of the individual, team, and organization, and the conflict between traditional culture and modern management. Key concepts like managing work motivation and preventing and managing conflicts in organizations are discussed extensively to sharpen student\'s understanding and appreciation of the concepts.
This edition includes new chapters on current and emerging strategies in organizational structure, leadership, and power and politics. The concepts discussed in each chapter are reinforced with carefully selected case studies to enhance student\'s analytical and problem-solving skills. Landmark cases and case studies such as Cisco\'s Acquisition Strategy, McDonald\'s \'Beef Fries\' Controversy, Acquisition of Arcelor, Netscape\'s Work Culture, Change Management at ICICI, and Leadership Development at Dr Reddy\'s Laboratory Ltd give the reader a feel of actual workplace situations.
